Porsche unveils facelifted Cayenne SUV for 2015

Porsche has facelifted its popular Cayenne SUV for the 2015 model year and unveiled it ahead of its reveal at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The biggest change to the lineup is the launch of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid model, which Porsche says is the first plug-in hybrid luxury SUV in the segment. The Cayenne now comes in four models: Diesel, S, Turbo and S E-Hybrid.

Another highlight of the updates includes the all-new 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 engine powering the Cayenne S. The new engines outputs 420 hp at 6,000 rpm and 406 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,350 to 4,500 rpm, which is an increase of 20 hp and 37 lb.-ft. of torque over the engine’s predecessor. Porsche also says the engine is more fuel efficient than before.

Outside, the Cayenne gets nipped and tucked for a sharper look overall. The whole front end is new and features a larger and more squared-off grille, new fog lights, and new daytime running lights. The LED strip under the headlights has also been removed, with air fins going where the lights used to be. The new air blades are used to guide air to the intercoolers.

Out back, the Cayenne’s tail lights get slimmed down and become shorter. The area for the license plate and tailgate handle is also integrated more elegantly into the liftgate. Overall, the new Cayenne looks wider and sportier.

The new Cayenne will arrive at dealers in November 2014. Canadian pricing will be announced close to launch.
