Ford officially releases 2015 F-150 horsepower and torque specs

Following last week’s official release of the 2015 Mustang’s specs, Ford has unveiled how much kick we can expect out of the all-new F-150.

But there’s a catch — the automaker just released figures of the new 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, as well as the base 3.5-litre V6. First and foremost, the turbocharged 2.7-litre mill pumps out 325 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque, while maximum towing — based on the new SAE J2807 standards — is rated at 8,500 lbs.

The base, normally-aspirated 3.5-litre V6 is rated at 283 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque, and can tow up to 7,600 lbs. Ford has remained tight-lipped over what we can expect from the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 and 5.0-litre V8 engines, although in the outgoing F-150, they’re rated at 365 and 360 horsepower, respectively.

Of course, the other trump card the 2015 F-150 has up its sleeve is its curb weight due to its extensive use of aluminum throughout the chassis and body. Ford has officially said the 2015 F-150 Lariat weighs in at 4,942 pounds, some 732 than the 2014 model.
