Dodge Challenger Hellcat could see limited production run

Chrysler could end up limiting production of the fastest muscle car it has ever produced, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, to just 1,200 examples.

According to Edmunds, an unidentified employee from Chrysler broke the news about the limited production run, but Dodge CEO Tom Kuniskis didn’t confirm the figure, but the company is still in the process of figuring out which dealers will sell the Hellcat.

“We are working on allocation formulas right now and scenarios on how we will allocate it,” he told Edmunds. “I can’t tell you exactly what we will do. Will we allocate it based on past Challenger sales? Will we base it on Challenger V8 sales? On SRT and V8 combined?”

The face-melting Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine, rated at a whopping 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.
