Mercedes-Benz planning S model for next-gen C63 AMG

The AMG team is known to work some serious performance magic on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, especially when it adds S to the end of the nameplate.

So far, we’ve seen the extra letter on the E63 and CLS63 models, but according to Australia’s Carsguide, the German automaker will extend that same treatment to the AMG version of the next-genration C-Class.

Typically, the AMG-S treatment involves a slight boost in horsepower and torque over standard AMG models. For example, the E63 AMG pumps out 550 horsepower, while the uptuned E63 AMG-S is rated at 577. We can expect much the same from the C63 AMG-S, which is reported to produce 503 horsepower, a jump from the 470 expected in the “standard” model powered by the company’s new twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder ‘M178′ engine.

Mercedes hasn’t set an official date for the latest C63′s debut, but it’s safe to cross your fingers and hope to see it uncovered at the Paris Motor Show or Los Angeles Auto Show later this year.
