Tesla to challenge BMW 3 Series with Model 3

Many companies have tried to build a “3 Series fighter” before and electric auto manufacturer, Tesla is about to join their ranks. According to this report from Auto Express, the Model 3 will be 20% smaller than the Model S. The car is planned to be unveiled by 2016 and should be on sale by 2017.

The car was originally to be called the Model E but a lawsuit from Ford put a stop to that. A Model S is pictured, but photos of the Model 3 can be found here. The Model 3 will likely ride on an all-new chassis rather than a shortened Model S chassis.
