All-British Field Meet restores Vancouver’s driving heritage

This weekend I’ll be at the All-British Field Meet at VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver bright and early as I like to photograph the cars as they drive onto the grass.

I also like to take shots of rows and rows of similar cars. That always serves as a reminder to me about the province’s proud heritage of British vehicles when almost half of the cars in

Vancouver were of British descent. Like me, many people have fond memories of those days, and many proud owners have restored British vehicles that aren’t even found in the U.K. today.

In addition to the main attractions, also on slate for this long weekend are a couple of great events in the Interior — the Kaslo May Days Car Show and the World Of Wheels Car Show.

Kaslo reminds me of the fellow I met at a car show in California who was showing a 427 Shelby Cobra. He heard me say “Eh” a few times and asked where I was from in Canada. Recently, he sold his beloved 427 Cobra to none other than Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton. I wonder what he drives now to replace the Cobra?

The All-British show at VanDusen features an amazing floral setting so bring a kid and a lady to the show.
