Koenigsegg Agera One:1 gears up for UK dynamic debut at Goodwood

Swedish hypercar with gargantuan 1322bhp power output to appear at Lord March’s Festival of Speed next month

The Koenigsegg Agera One:1 will make its UK dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month.

The Swedish hypercar, first unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March, will participate in the Michelin Super Car run at Lord March’s event. A second example will be on static display on the French tyre company’s stand.

The One:1 is so called as it has a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1 – it weighs 1340kg and produces 1322bhp (or 1340 metric horsepower).

This power output figure eclipses the McLaren P1, LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder, and also that of the 1184bhp Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

The new model is derived from the Koenigsegg Agera R, which itself boasts a 1100bhp twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8.

For the One:1, a claimed top speed of more than 273mph is quoted, which would make it the fastest production road car in the world – faster than the 270mph Hennessey Venom GT and 268mph Veyron Super Sport.

Koenigsegg claims this top speed is possible thanks to the One:1’s “high power and high-rpm capability in combination with strong tyres and active aero”.

Koenigsegg, which in 2014 celebrates its 20th anniversary, has equipped the One:1 with a carbonfibre chassis that’s 20 per cent lighter than the Agera R’s, active aerodynamics, active ride height, variable-stiffness suspension, upgraded tyres, a lightweight titanium exhaust and a variable turbo housing to boost low-end torque.

The active aero consists of independent flaps left and right under the front splitter and a hydraulic dual-plan rear wing. This helps the One:1 produce 610kg of downforce at 160mph, which is equivalent to that of a McLaren P1.

Other impressive numbers include the car’s ability to pull 2g while cornering on road-legal tyres, and the ability for the Predictive Active Chassis and Aero Track Mode systems to be informed by 3G and GPS connectivity.

The car can record lap times and telemetry through an iPhone app, which is also able to receive software updates for the car.

Koenigsegg has not released a price for the model, but has confirmed that all examples of the One:1 have already been sold.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from 26-29 June, kicking off with the Moving Motor Show on Thursday 26 June before three days of action on the hillclimb.
