All-new Volvo XC90 to launch next year

Roomier seven-seat SUV to kick off Volvo’s revitalisation, with new engines and hybrid tech on the way

The all-new Volvo XC90 has entered the final stages of development prior to going on sale in just over a year’s time.

Volvo revealed the first early-build XC90 on the last day of cold-weather testing in Sweden, prior to the start of hot-weather testing. The undisguised cars were shown to a small group of journalists behind closed doors at the firm’s Arctic test facility.

The new seven-seat SUV is the first of a range of all-new
models that the company hopes will propel it into the first division of automotive premium brands.

The new XC90, codenamed V526, sticks closely to the formula set by its predecessor, which was launched in 2002.
