Best Sports Cars 2014-2015

So far this year, many companies announced all new sports cars but most of the cars available in the market are variants of the older models. There are however a few noteworthy sports cars that caught people’s attention. The cars selected here are the best amongst the others and they’re the most important ones due to different reasons. So let’s see which cars are the best sports cars of 2014-2015.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7:

It’s an important sports car because it is quintessentially American, way more cheap than the other sports cars in its league and it truly is a great car to drive. It’s even more important for the company that made it because it is an all new design and shares only two parts with the older generation, so the stakes were high for the GM Motors.

Best American Sports Car 2015

Stingray the best American sports car, looks different than the older stingray and it’s not just the body work, as I said before it’s an all new car down to the aluminum chassis with the composite body panels. Much to our reader’s disappointment it is a car with 6.2 L engine that is in front but don’t worry as the weight distribution is managed quite well. The engine manages to produce 460 bhp.

It’s rear wheel drive and it is reported to have improved differential as well. So in essence, the big V8 provides enough oomph to achieve 190mph in straight line and because of the good weight distribution, new differential and better suspension it is good around the corners as well.

McLaren P1:

The McLaren P1 is a car of the future and If you ever see this car on the road in front of you, don’t gaze into the magnificence or you could end up tailgating a million dollar car. Actually the way it accelerates, you won’t be able to do that even if you wanted to as it can go from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds and it has a top speed of 217 mph!

McLaren P1, Greatest Sports Car 2014

Yes impressive but why is it important? Well you’d be surprised to know, it’s a hybrid sports car. While the point of a prius or any other hybrid car is to be fuel efficient, McLaren took different approach and used it to make a performance car like no other. It has a twin turbocharged 3.8L V8 engine that can produce an astonishing 727 horsepower at 7500 rpm. To put it into perspective, a Ford Fiesta ST (hatchback) barely manages 195 horsepower. But that’s not all the McLaren P1 can do, if you think 727 horsepower isn’t enough, you can push the Instant Power Assist (IPAS) button that will engage the electric motor, otherwise used to provide power during gear shifts. So you have a total of 903 horsepower at your disposal.

McLaren P1 is a mid engined car with perfect weight distribution but it’s rear wheel drive. Even though the $1.15 million is a hefty amount, but all of the 375 units were sold by November 2013.

Porsche 918 Spyder:

The McLaren P1 is a truly amazing sports car, but it’s not the only hybrid sports car that can do over 200 mph. Porsche’s long awaited 918 is finally here. It has a 4.6L V8 engine, capable of producing 608 horsepower and combine that with two electric motors that generate 279 horsepower.

Porsche 918 Spyder, Best Sports Car 2015

And unlike McLaren P1, Porsche 918 was designed to be an economical performance car. If driven at a slow speed at hybrid mode it can achieve 94.1 mpg! That is truly amazing but in reality, if driven like a normal car at the speed limits, it’ll roughly burn the same amount of fuel as a big sedan. It can go from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and the top speed is 214 mph.

So far it looks like the greatest sports car ever made and it only gets better. The Porsche 918 is a four wheel drive car that has engine in the middle, so perfect weight distribution and extremely good handling doesn’t come as a surprise. Porsche will make 918 units of this car and it is priced at $845,000.

So to wrap it all up, Corvette Stingray C7 is amongst the best sports car of 2014-2015 because it is a relatively low priced American sports car that is going to give a stiff competition to its European competitors. But the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 are the next generation of sports cars.
