More Details of Kia’s New Van Emerge—Including Its Name [2014 New York Auto Show]

2015 Kia Sedona

Say hello to the 2015 Sedona, the next-generation minivan from Kia. The automaker recently previewed the van sans a name or much in the way of actual details, but has now released a few choice nuggets of information besides the Sedona name. Kia currently sells a Sedona minivan, but it’s old as dirt by modern standards, and it looks nothing like this fairly sporty replacement, which is debuting at the 2014 New York auto show.

Instrumented Test: 2014 Kia Cadenza
Instrumented Test: 2014 Kia Sorento SX V-6 AWD
Long-Term Test Wrap-Up: 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite

Here’s what we know: The new Sedona will seat eight, feature an all-new chassis, employ Kia’s next-gen UVO infotainment system, and it will be powered by a 3.3-liter V-6. No power figures have been released yet, but this probably is the same engine that appears in the brand’s Cadenza entry-luxury sedan, meaning we can expect around 293 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque, all funneled through a six-speed automatic transmission. Stay tuned to this space for full details closer to the New York show.
