Ford recalls over 434,000 vehicles in North America

Corrosion issues and unsafe seatback frames are prompting Ford to recall more than 434,000 vehicles in North America.

First, 385,762 Ford Escape SUVs from the 2001-2004 model years (including around 37,000 in Canada) suffer from subframes that can rust, allowing a control arm to separate and affect steering ability.

The second recall targets 48,950 Ford Fusion, Escape, C-MAX and Lincoln MKZ vehicles from 2013-2014 (including 4,744 in Canada). It appears the seatback frames weren’t welded properly, so dealers will have to replace them.
