All Crossed Up: Fiat Debuts Panda Cross and Freemont Cross [2014 Geneva Auto Show]

Keeping its aging lineup afloat, Fiat is launching two crossover derivatives of existing models at the Geneva auto show next week. The Panda Cross is a variation of Fiat’s successful Panda range, which serves as the technical basis for the 500; the Freemont Cross is a trim level of the Fiat Freemont, which is a rebadged Dodge Journey.

The Panda Cross is differentiated from other Panda models by its bespoke and radical bumpers and cladding, which makes it look almost like a concept car. An all-wheel-drive system and raised ground clearance help this tiny hatchback to “tackle any situation with complete cool,” as Fiat contends. The approach and exit angles have been improved over the regular Panda 4
