Fast Forward: Watch Video of Hennessey’s Venom GT Hitting 270.49 mph on a NASA Runway

Hennessey is claiming top-speed bragging rights after its Lotus-based Venom GT hit 270.49 mph on a runway at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center, and it also released video of the feat. Now, it’s worth pointing out that Hennessey’s video clearly shows the engineering team making only a single (but VBOX-verified) top-speed pass. Guinness world record eligibility requires two passes—one in each direction—and Hennessey claims that wasn’t possible due to pesky NASA rules. (Thanks, Obama.)
