Simplify and Add Lightness? Bad-Ass, 200-hp Lotus Motorcycle Does the Trick

Lotus Motorcyles C-01
Thank you, Lotus. Not for creating these motorcycles, because you didn’t, but for lending Kodewa Performance Motorcycles your name, and allowing Kodewa to translate its expertise building your LMP1 cars into one of the hottest motorcycles we’ve ever seen. The move was, frankly, brilliant.

Lotus C-01 motorcycle

The motorcycle’s frame is a mixture of carbon fiber, titanium, and steel, and it’s covered by a curvaceous, minimalist shroud that brings to mind Formula 1 intakes past and present. Performance should be more than adequate, thanks to the 200-hp, 1.2-liter dry-sump V-twin engine and six-speed transmission tucked beneath the carbon-fiber goodness, as well as its claimed dry weight of just 400 pounds. Braking is handled by twin discs up front squeezed by four-piston calipers and a single disc and a two-piston caliper at the rear.

A prototype has been road-registered, but we almost wouldn’t care if the C-01 never moved at all—we’d be happy just looking at the thing. Kodewa plans to build 100 examples of the C-01, and will offer them in the range of racing liveries shown in the photo gallery below. It says that a range of customization options will be available, too, limited only by the buyer’s wallet. Pricing is as yet unknown, but if you want one, act now—cost be damned.
