Mazda teases subcompact Hazumi before Geneva debut

Mazda has released a teaser image of its new Hazumi concept before its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, giving us a glimpse into what could be the next-generation Mazda2.

The teaser photo, which highlights the subcompact’s headlight and front three-quarters, previews muscular, swoopy lines that we have already seen on the award-winning 2014 Mazda6 and Mazda3.

Mazda will also unveil an all-new Skyactiv-D 1.5L diesel engine at Geneva.

“Hazumi” is a Japanese word meaning to “bound or spring up” and Mazda is hoping the new subcompact will evoke images of a little animal bursting with energy (a squirrel high on nuts, perhaps?).
