Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept’s Soundtrack Makes for Easy Listening [2014 Geneva Auto Show]

When Infiniti debuted the Q50 Eau Rouge concept in Detroit early this year, the only information it would reveal about the show car’s powertrain came from the brand’s president, Johan de Nysschen. “If we built this car I would expect it to feature over 500 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque,” he said. Nissan’s luxury brand still isn’t talking specifics about the powertrain, but we were informed that full engine details will come at next month’s Geneva auto show and treated to a teaser video previewing what’s under the hood.

Although there’s plenty of audio distortion in the video, you can make out plenty of turbo whine and what sounds like a six-cylinder layout. Considering Infiniti’s strong ties to Formula 1′s Red Bull Racing and the series’s switch to turbocharged V-6s for 2014, we suspect the Eau Rouge’s powertrain mirrors that setup. While Infiniti doesn’t presently have any turbo sixes that fit the bill, de Nysschen noted in Detroit that its alliances with other automakers would grant it access to a suitable powerplant.
