Mercedes-Benz bidding farewell to SLS AMG at L.A. and Tokyo auto shows

Mercedes-Benz has officially dished details on the aptly-named SLS AMG Final Edition, set to make an appearance at the Los Angeles and Tokyo auto shows next week.

Since 2009, we’ve seen the “standard” coupe and roadster, the GT, an all-electric SLS and the positively insane Black Series. Understandably, we don’t blame you if the Final Edition will make you shed a tear. It is, well, the final opportunity to touch, drive or own a piece of machinery built completely by AMG.

Limited to 350 untis and exclusive to the SLS GT, the Final Edition is powered by the same 6.2-litre V8 under the hood, pumping out 591 horsepower. Mercerdes-Benz hasn’t detailed the rest of the Final Edition’s trimmings, but from what we can see, it will come standard with various carbon fibre bits, including a front splitter and a rear spoiler, as well as a set of unique alloy wheels.

Mercedes-Benz will also show off the S65 AMG alongside the SLS Final Edition next week. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12, the S65 is good for only 621 horsepower and 738 lb.-ft. of torque. Keep an eye on Driving for the latest on the L.A. and Tokyo, which both open their doors next Wednesday.
