2014 Range Rover Sport

Each year since 1983, Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine has named its 4×4 of the Year, and while Jeep has been honored with this award a dozen times, Land Rover has now claimed the distinction two out of the last three years. The Land Rover LR4 was the magazine’s top off-road vehicle in 2011, and this year’s top off-roader is the all-new 2014 Range Rover Sport.

While the full article for the announcement won’t be published until February, Land Rover states that to qualify for the award, a four-wheel drive vehicle must be new (or updated), come with a two-speed transfer case, have a minimum production run of 2,500 units and be on sale before January 2014. It also has to win out in Petersen’s bevy of off-loading tests, all of which will no doubt be detailed when the full story is published.
