Sedan: 2014 Chevrolet Malibu

New start-stop system improves fuel-economy of full-size sedan, chassis improvements enhance driving dynamics

Chevy’s new Malibu is selling well, its exemplary comfort and space and refreshed styling making it an attractive proposition. New for 2014, a revised front end and improved engine lineup make the Malibu even more worthy of a closer look. Torque from the turbocharged 2.0-litre offering is up, and improvements to the standard 2.5L engine have increased efficiency by as much as 5 per cent. Rear-seat passengers will appreciate the redesigned rear seats that give enhanced room, especially for knees, and there’s a new centre console up front. The addition of blind-spot monitoring makes the Malibu even better at handling heavy traffic, and a host of suspension and chassis tweaks work together to make for a more-refined drive.
