More details about Kia Soul EV

A month ago, we told you that Kia will launch an all-electric Soul on the U.S. market in 2014. The company today released plenty of details about the car.

Apparently, the Kia Soul EV will provide a range of close to 200 kilometres. The electric motor will generate 109 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque, allowing for 0-100km/h acceleration in less than 12 seconds, as well as a top speed of approximately 145 km/h.

Because it’s so silent, the Kia Soul EV will feature a Virtual Engine Sound System that emits an audio alert at speeds below 19 km/h and whenever the car is in reverse.

Other highlights of the Kia Soul EV include projector-type headlamps, LED positioning lamps, LED rear combination lamps, plus aerodynamically shaped 16” alloy wheels. The interior components and trim will use an increased range of recycled materials such as Bio Plastic and Bio Foam.

Pricing and the on-sale date for the Kia Soul EV have yet to be announced. No word on Canadian availability, either.
