Hatchback: 2014 Nissan Juke

Funky-looking small crossover with excellent handling and fun-to-drive characteristics; new NISMO model cranks up the performance

While some will find its wild and crazy looks disconcerting, there’s no denying the Nissan Juke’s high fun-to-drive factor. Equipped with a zippy four-cylinder turbo across the range, it’s a bit like a Mini Cooper on stilts. The basic front-wheel-drive car is a hoot, but the all-wheel-drive model dials up the grip and give you a torque-vectoring rear end that can really fire the car through the corners. For Nissan’s in-house tuning division, NISMO, even this level of performance wasn’t enough, and they’ve dialed up the zip for 2014 with aggressive aerodynamics, even more power with a free-flowing performance exhaust, and grippier seats.
