Hatchback: 2014 Chevrolet Sonic

Small and scrappy with optional turbocharged engine for more torque; hatchback features motorcyle-themed instrument cluster

While both Sonic engine options come with the same horsepower ratings, its the turbo engine that really makes Chevy’s subcompact come alive with great off-the-line torque – 148 lb.-ft. of it. It might be small, but both sedan and hatchback make the most of their space, and can be optioned with everything from Navigation to Bluetooth handled through the Chevy MyLink infotainment centre. All are fun-to-drive, but the sportiest of the range is the RS model, with a sportier suspension, bigger brakes and different gear ratios.
