Cargo van: 2014 Ford E-Series

Full-sized van with multiple configurations and lengths; tech includes SYNC connectivity, available navigation and real-time telematics

Next year, the diminutive Transit is set to take the place of Ford’s long-running full-sized cargo van, swapping overall cargo space in favour of in-city flexibility. In its final year, the E-Series, formerly the dependable old Econoline, remains a durable workhorse that’s reliable, reasonably efficient, and extremely capable. On-board Sync capability makes the drive a little nicer, and for fleet managers, the up-to-date telematics help dispatch work crews to where they’re needed most. Maximum towing capacity with the larger V8 is 7000 lbs, and payload is a whopping 2800 lbs.
