SUV: 2014 Range Rover Sport

All-new Range Rover gets all-aluminium structure; more power, less weight, better transmission

In the Range Rover pantheon, the full-size truck might be the flagship, but it’s the Sport that outsells everything, including pretty much the entire Land Rover range. With a blend of useable performance and high-end style, it’s not hard to see why – and this new one is even better. Dropping the LR4 underpinnings in favour of those carried by the new full-sized Range Rover has allowed the Sport to shed a whopping 800 pounds. This makes the car lighter on its feet, and with a new eight-speed automatic and choice of supercharged engines, it’s still really fast, but burns less fuel. As both Range Rover options are five-seater only, expect this all-new car to continue the sales leader tradition.
