Toyota Yaris hatchback refreshed for 2015

Toyota has taken the wraps off its refreshed Yaris hatchback for 2015, complete with new styling inside and out.

Up front, the Yaris boasts a completely restyled face, compete with a tweaked upper front grille and trapezoidal lower grille, accented by a chrome bar and new headlights. Base Yaris models are fitted with standard halogen reflectors, but the fully-loaded SE gains projectors and LED daytime running lights. The Yaris also gains a ‘floating’ front lip spoiler, a new rear bumper with a restyled diffuser, as well as optional 16-inch wheels and power-folding mirrors.

Inside, changes to the Yaris are entirely cosmetic, including the use of more soft-touch plastic along the dashboard and door panels, as well as different trim finishes and new seat fabric. The Yaris gains one particular improvement to its infotainment system — a 6.1-inch display is now standard across all trim levels.

Under the skin, the refreshed Yaris is virtually identical to the current model — it is still powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, rated at 106 horsepower and 103 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed manual is standard, while a four-speed automatic transmission is optional. Toyota says the 2015 Yaris also benefits from chassis tweaks to curb noise, vibration and harshness levels, as well as improved chassis stiffness.

Toyota will announce fuel economy and pricing numbers closer to the 2015 Yaris’ launch later this summer.
