Hennessey hypercar sets new 270mph top-speed record; VW plans to buy the rest of Scania; 2WD Insignia Country Tourer priced

The Hennessey Venom GT is now the fastest car in the world. The 1184bhp Venom GT hit a top speed of 270.49mph at Nasa’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, stripping the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport of its title by beating its 268mph top speed. The speed has been noted by Guiness World Record, but at least 30 Venom GTs need to be made before the record is ratified.
